• Understand the TQM decisions eg. TQM, kaizen & empowerment
• Read and understand the decision and control linkages, controlling process, types of control eg. indirect and direct controls
• Read and understand the approaches to control and how different MNC from different countries differs.

CHAPTER 12: MOTIVATION ACROSS CULTURE

• Read on nature of motivation
• Read on Hofstede’s 4 cultural dimension and research on professionals and managers needs
• Read Maslow Hierarchy-of-Need theory
• Read on Herzberg Theory eg. Two factor theory and cross cultural job satisfaction studies
• Read achievement motivation theory
• Read selected process theory eg. Equity,goal setting and expectancy theory
• Read and understand motivation applied eg. Job design, work centrality and rewards. You must be able to use examples of several countries

CHAPTER 13: LEADERSHIP ACROSS CULTURES

• Read basic concepts of leadership eg. Definition
• Read theory x, y and z
• Read transformational, transactional and charismatic leadership

CHAPTER 14: HR SELECTION AND DEVELOPMENT ACROSS CULTURES

• Read the importance of International Human Resources
• Read sources of HRs
• Read home, host and third country nationals
• Read selection criteria for international assignments eg. General criteria, age,experience, and education criteria, language training and spouses and dependants or work family issues
• Read adjustment process
